Agricultural pharmaceuticals – for a conscious use

Agricultural pharmaceuticals:

If used correctly, they are safe for man and our environment.

  1. Agricultural pharmaceuticals, as the name suggests, are pharmaceutical products to be used to protect your plants and garden from insects and disease, and, if applicable, to keep weeds under control... They should be used any time insects or diseases present themselves to an extent that may damage the health of the plants, and you have no other means available to control them.

  2. If you note a high presence of snails feeding on your lettuce, or if you have a lot aphids and mites infesting your roses, apples or pears, or if you have weeds invading your driveway, then the time has come for agricultural pharmaceuticals.

  3. We would first like to let you know that before being released on the market, all agricultural pharmaceuticals must pass strict tests set out by European legislation, and obtain authorisation from the Ministry of Employment, Health and Social Policy. They can therefore be considered safe for man and our environment, when used as the label describes.

  4. Agricultural pharmaceuticals can only be bought from authorised sales outlets, such as agricultural retailers, agricultural consortia and garden centres. The agricultural pharmaceuticals used on ornamental plants, on the other hand, can also be purchased from general sales outlets offering potted plants, or supermarkets.

  5. Always read the label carefully, and ensure that the product is suitable for the crop and parasite to be treated. If in any doubt, always ask your trusted retailer for explanations.

  6. Agricultural pharmaceuticals should always be kept away from children and animals, taking great care not to upturn packages and, where possible, should be in a locked room. If they are stored appropriately, away from heat sources and humidity, these products are efficient for many years.

  7. When you wish to use them, wear clothing that will allow you to avoid the products coming into contact with skin (gloves, mask). Utilizzate sempre il misurino previsto dalla confezione.

  8. Always use the measure provided with the package.

  9. Do not store a diluted product.

  10. Always wash hands carefully after using agricultural pharmaceuticals.

  11. Never use agricultural pharmaceuticals if you do not know where they came from, or if they are not supplied in their original packaging.

  12. Do not apply the product in strong winds. Always prefer the cooler part of the day.

  13. Never pour agricultural pharmaceuticals into water courses, sinks or toilets, even if diluted. If you wash the containers of agricultural pharmaceuticals several times after use, they can be disposed of as normal household waste. If you have any doubts, please call your local authorities and ask how to dispose correctly of the empty containers for agricultural pharmaceuticals, and any product no longer required.

  1. In the event of a presumed intoxication, call 999 (or equivalent country emergency number), ensuring that you have the package of the agricultural pharmaceutical to hand, with its relevant label, and any instructions provided.
