Bugs

Characteristics:
Bugs are small insects, with a flattish body in the back-ventral sense, and with an oval or oblong profile.

The head has eyes, but no ocelli. It has antennae comprising 4 articles, of which two terminals that are thin and lengthened. The nose also consists of 4 segments.

The bugs are temporary ectoparasites of the homeotherm vertebrates. They have a hematophagus dietary regime but do not live on the host's body, settling in micro environments nearby. They can be found on trestles and in bird's nests, in dens and homes. The species associated with man are Cimex lectularius, Cimex hemipterus and Leptocimex boueti.

The interest of this family is strictly medical-sanitary. Differently to other hematophagus heteroptera, bugs are not held to be vectors of pathogen organisms, and as such the damage produced is exclusively directly and represented by allergic reactions in the form of skin irritations caused by the emission of the saliva.
