Sharka

Characteristics:
Sharker is a viral infection that affects plums, apricots, peaches, nectarines and percoca peaches, seriously damaging the fruits. The virus also infects the graft-holders commonly used for drupacea, and several species of ornamental and spontaneous prunus (e.g. Prunus spinosa L. = sloe). Above all, the latter are a significant natural source of infection. Acid and sweet cherry trees are immune. Sharka can be seen on the leaves and fruits whilst the development of affected trees continues to be normal. Much of the fruits of infected plants will fall early. The only action possible against virus diseases are of a preventative nature.
