Funghi diseases
Leaf blister
Characteristics:
This is a common peach disease (and which also affects other species of the gen. Prunus, including ornamental plants such as bay) that also affects other plants (and particularly brackens). At the start of spring, with low temperatures (7-8°C) and rain, or a veil of humidity that remains on leaves for a few hours, the attack can begin. Generally speaking, infections are most evident with cold, rainy springs. Temperatures above 25°C and low humidity levels block the attack.
Symptoms:
Blistering and thickening of leaves that take on a characteristic red colouring. The leaves affected dry out or rot and in any case will fall early.
Defence:
Early preventative action must be taken in autumn as the leaves fall, and in winter. As vegetation returns, repeat the treatments at lower doses.
