Funghi diseases

White rot (oidium)

Characteristics:
This term is used to specify the many fungi diseases characterised by the leaves, or other parts of the plant, being covered by a whitish felt: the younger parts are usually affected, such as shoots, young leaves, floral buds and immature fruits. These pathogens develop most easily in warm-humid climates and without rain. Infections are greater in spring and autumn, lessening a little in the height of summer.

Symptoms:
Initially, small de-coloured marks appear, that are quickly covered by a mould similar to a whitish powder. Later, a white-grey felt forms. Young leaves shrivel and fall. Adult leaves show blisters and dark marks that then lacerate, forming small holes in the leaf. Almost all the plants in our garden are attacked: vegetables, fruits, vines, flowers and ornamental plants.

Defence:
Regular treatments can be performed (6/8 per year).
