Bacteriosis
Characteristics:
Defence against bacteriosis can only be preventative. The main causes of the disease must be eliminated, such as pools of water, various lesions, the presence of mites (Panonychus ulmi), the introduction of infected striplings and unsuitable grafts. Chemical control is based on interventions with copper based products (copper sulphate, copper oxychloride, copper hydroxide) to be carried out at the start, mid and end of leaf falling, to limit or prevent penetration of the pathogens through the wounds left by the leaves when they fall, thereby lowering the potential of a springtime inoculation. In more serious cases, these autumn treatments are added to by interventions prior to vegetable reawakening. In the event of hail and freezing, that can cause injury and therefore the entry of pathogen agents, treatments must be carried out very early on.
