Click beetles and Beetles
Characteristics:
The larvae of click beetles are lengthened and cylindrical, and red/orange in colour measure 10 to 20 mm long. Beetle larvae are whitish in colour, measure approximately 40 mm in length and take on an arched form, typically as a C shape. Both attack roots and underground organs (tap roots of carrots, tubers of beet).
Symptoms:
Quick shrivelling of leaves and stems, with a withered look and difficulty in forming vegetation.
Defence:
Intervention with specific geo-pest killers is necessary, distributing the products upon soling or in the plant, and incorporating them into the first few centimetres of the earth with a rake.
