Insects in the green

Gryllotalpa

Characteristics:
The appearance of this insect, around 30/60 mm long, is similar to that of common crickets, but is typical for the presence of a blackish shield that covers the front part of the body, and the powerful front legs that are fitted with teeth. It does not attack plants directly, but by digging long, extended surface tunnels, causes significant damage to flowers/ornamental plants and vegetable gardens, as it chops off any roots it encounters along its dig.

Symptoms:
Similar to those caused by beetle larvae.

Defence:
The fight is based on the use of specific geo pest killers.
