Funghi diseases
Peronospora
Characteristics:
The name peronospora is used to identify various different parasite fungi for vegetable plants, vines, flowers and ornamental plants. Ideal attack conditions are a warm, humid climate with rain and temperatures of between 10 and 20 degrees.
Symptoms:
Leaf marks of various colours accompanied, on the lower side, by a whitish mould. The leaves then curl up, dry and fall. On the vines, these marks are translucent (looking much like oil stains) and bunches of flowers can also be attacked, that are dried, and developed bunches of grapes rot and dry out in maturation. On potatoes and tomatoes, the leaf marks are brown: for the tomato, the same symptoms can also be seen on the stema dn the fruit rotting. On the rose, markings are reddish-brown: early attacks lead to much reduced flowering.
Defence:
In this case too, the best approach is to prevent attacks, intervening at the time when the weather conditions are most favourable to the development of attacks. Treat with copper-based products, repeating interventions regularly.
